Day 3 - Tokyo to Hakone

Image
Had another slow morning after a long day yesterday. Was booked in for the 10am bullet train to Hakone. Well we got the train to Odakyu then a mini tr ain to the cable car then from the cable car to the rope ways to then get on a pirate ship around Hakone. Very long trip but was amazing views of Mount Fuji and then pirate ship was unreal. Beautiful lake and so much forestry around. Then we got off our pirate ship to get some karake chicken which Chris described as his best meal he’s had here yet. We went to take a picture at the heavens gate which looks like it’s floating in the water. The line to get a photo taken was about an hour long so we decided to not miss our train and to take a quick pic without us in it then had honey and orange ice cream which was so delicious and just looked out at the lake which was so unreal. Then got a bus for tiny short people 45 minutes back to Odakuya then bullet train back to our little home in Shangawa. We then went and had some Italian for dinner w...

Day 2 - Exploring Tokyo

We started with a quick breaky and a walk to Meiji Jingu which was a beautiful park/forest with a temple in the middle of it. This was at 9am at  33 degrees. We then went around the corner to another park and saw a few birds and crazy people running. Then had some an ice cream sandwich that was made of some amazing ice cream that didn’t melt somehow before getting the train to Shinjuku to see the famous 3D cat advertising board that looks just like Penny which did not disappoint. We then headed to Shubuya to go see the Shibuya scramble crossing and Shibuya Sky which we were told would likely close due to heat stroke conditions and it felt like it when we were on top with no relief anywhere from the sun but great views and nice to see, even if all in the open air. After dying in the heat, we went down and  had  walked through the Senso-Ji markets which led to the temple. I got a Very Good Fortune and Chris got a Very Bad Fortune. So he had to tie it to the bad fortune tree...

Day 1 - Arriving in Tokyo

Landed early in the morning  Had to purchase our JR passes in the longest line at the train station Then as we figured out where we needed to go, a rail way employee grabbed Chris’ bag and told him to hurry and started running down the escalator but once we started talking to us, she realised that we did not just fly from Singapore and did not need to get on a connecting flight  Once we were able to get back to where we started and got on our train, we made our way to the hotel in peak hour on the train in the city. Then we went up the huge hill in 35 degrees weather with 90% humidity carrying our giant suitcases which was fun. Once we dropped off the bags and were wet with sweat still in our winter clothes and spent some time in the hotel lobby bathroom trying to freshen up. Then we were on a mission to find some coffee and breakfast.  Walked about 10 minutes and had some mini French toast with iced latte which was delicious. Then we walked to Shiba Park temple and throu...
